this is my first Project 365 journal entry!
my new years resolution was to blog every single day of 2009 with at least a short blog or picture that has some description of what i did that day. this year should be interesting because i'm starting back to school for computer programming, getting married to my boyfriend of 4 years, going on our first family beach vacation and our little one will be turning 4 years old next november. so there will be lots of action and hopefully lots of interesting blogs!
i'm leaving this blog on top just so people can read this first intro entry when they come

ugh. what a day.
usually my days are not so drama filled. unfortunately, this last week has been rough.
basically, J's stepdad is stark raving mad. and he's angry. and now the police are heavily involved. so it looks like an arrest will be happening, which makes me very sad, but very relieved at the same time. i'm pretty scared for my safety and the safety of my family, and they are very valid fears.

UGHHH.

i hope this weekend gets better and not worse. =(

three words can describe this day in january: drama, drama, DRAMA.
also, it was once again unseasonably warm. i saw several people in shorts. IN SHORTS. IN JANUARY! it just isn't right. of course, people from arkansas will jump on any opportunity to wear shorts. the shorter, the better. especially if there is cellulite involved.

*sigh* i'm not even sure if i should blog about the drama, since it is turning into a legal situation. of course it isn't MY legal situation. but it is for J...and his entire family. i hoped for peace for J's mom and sister. oh well. maybe in february.

i didn't take any pictures today because everything was so chaotic. but i will post a few anyway, from my younger days!

i almost forgot to blog!

today has been busy. we did a lot of running around, the kiddo and i. went to the post office, the bank, daddy-o's work and the mall, where i scored some sweet deals at bath and body works. i am addicted to their wallflower scents. they are all amazing and last foreverrrrr. i swear by them.

i thought W was getting sick yesterday, but today he is fine. last night after i went to bed, he woke up and started crying. i really thought he was going to get sick with a stomach bug and for some reason had a full fledged panic attack. so i got both of us out of bed and took a tylenol pm and W started asking for cereal so i let him eat, then we went back to bed. turns out he was just really hungry, not sick. he is the pickiest eater i have ever seen, and if he's not in the mood to eat, HE WILL NOT EAT. even if i put him in time out or put him directly to bed after dinner, he still won't eat. tonight i made him a piece of toast before putting him to bed and it was like pulling teeth. he had a serious breakdown over me trying to make him eat toast. i swear. motherhood is insanity!

what a weird day! i feel like it flew by. we woke up late [around 10!] and then took a nap at noon. i think Little Man is getting sick. he's had a low-grade fever and is really whiny and sleepy acting. when we went grocery shopping he leaned on his dad and got big red circles under his eyes like he was about to fall asleep in the cart! that's extremely unusual. on a normal night, will could go napless and still stay up as late as we let him, going strong. that kid is a party animal.

my best friend's cousin was in a horrible wreck on the interstate last night. from the news website:
Two men fell to their deaths from bridges on Interstate 540 after crashes on or near bridges in Crawford County. Another was killed when he was ejected from his truck. 5 News investigated two separate car crashes that occurred last night. The icy weather left three men dead after 21 vehicles crashed on or near two bridges.

my friend's cousin was one of those 21 vehicles. as she was crossing the bridge, a truck slammed into her car and crushed it. if she had been in her car still, she would have died. she is very blessed to be alive.

i made my very first cake from scratch tonight. it is super yummy! it's a glazed prune cake, which sounds disgusting but is delicious. as it was baking, it filled the kitchen with an amazing spicy, apple pie type smell. it was heaven.

lastly, a pic of my fussy butt kiddo after he scratched his arm and ran around screaming, 'OHHH! MY ARRRMMM! MY BOO BOOOOO!" poor thing.

another day, another blog! honestly, i can't believe i have kept up with this thing for 4 whole days. it's shocking.
i have a small problem with commitment.

today was another J-less day. =( he worked until 3 then headed off to help move some more. still haven't seen him but for 10 minutes or so. kind of a bummer. but instead of telling him i miss him and i love him, i choose to pout, because really i am twelve.
but i do miss you, sugar, if you're reading this!

so how did i spend my day? well, instead of being a good girl and cleaning up this mess,

i did this!


i made chicken and dumplings for dinner, which H Bug just hoovered right up, like the good girl she is. my son, of course, promptly dumped his bowl of dumplings on the floor just as i was sitting down to eat. i...was not a happy camper. hopefully one day he will learn from his cousin the right way to eat a bowl of dumplin's!




i feel like i should mention what a huge, massive crush i have on john krasinski. i watch the office mostly just for his adorable face. and then other times i find myself really identifying with dwight and that is scary.


i have the most horrible caffeine withdrawal headache right now so i'm going to go suck my favorite guilty pleasure ice cold coca cola now! i'll leave you with a few randoms...

the third day of january turned out to be an extremely warm and humid one. i swear, arkansas weather is on crack. or it's going through menopause, one of the two. something has to explain it's wild, careening swings from one direction to the other. everyone is coughing and sneezing as their sinuses are all confused. just imagine how the birds, bugs and trees feel.

J was off work today but he has been helping his mom and sister move again. it is slow moving, emotional business. people's tempers are flaring. so i took the easy route of keeping the kids at our house so they can play and watch W's new movie we bough him [Wall*E]. they're in there saying "wa-AAA-ll-eee" together and chattering their toddler talk together.

H: hey W!
W: yeah?
H: *gibberish*
W: yeah. night!

haha so cute.

H [our niece] is a little performer and sings all day long, constantly. i love hearing her little voice! W is an expert car and train sound maker and H is an expert nursery rhyme singer. it's a proud mom/aunt's own personal musical all day long. =)

the second day of january wasn't exactly the most exciting day.
J went back to work after almost two weeks of vacation, so we missed him around the house.
i did a ton of laundry and cleaning. it's easier for me to clean either a) when i'm not distracted by the handsome boyfriend or b) when i'm irritated by said handsome boyfriend and need to vent my frustration through manual labor.
Little Man missed his daddy-o but we made it through. he played with his play-doh and train set for hours. i love to watch him play with cars or trains because he makes the most realistic sounds. he even makes the gear switching sound when he's playing with his cars. i guess every boy has that awesome noise making gene built in.

my best friend of nearly 15 years came by and we finally were able to exchange christmas gifts. we got each other the same thing again! second year in a row. she got W an awesome new race track toy that he loves.
she and i are so close, we are basically sisters. both of our families consider us part of the families. she is an amazing girl...fiercely loyal and honest in a refreshing way. you can always trust she says things like she means them and will always tell you the truth. i guess that is why our friendship has lasted so long. she has stood by me through some ugly times and i am extremely lucky to have her.

we spent the evening helping J's mom pack up her things into boxes to move into an apartment. there has been some major family drama but hopefully 2009 will bring her and J's sister peace.

i have been missing my grandmother a lot lately. she was a gentle and loving woman. i think the reason i have been so excited to bake lately is because i've been thinking of her. i can still remember the way her hands looked making pie shells and slicing bananas for her amazing banana pudding that i can still taste in my mouth when i think about it. i miss her a lot.
